Below are some common questions and answers about the Surgery Department:
What is Endoscopy?
An endoscope is a flexible, lighted tube that, when inserted into the digestive system, transmits images of the inside of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum or colon, allowing the physician to carefully examine the lining of these organs.
What is Laparoscopic Surgery?
Surgery in which a long slender tube containing a viewing instrument and light is inserted through the abdominal wall to see the interior of the upper body. Laparoscopic surgery is performed through several small incisions instead of a single long one, as in the traditional open procedure. As a result, there is less pain, a quicker recovery time, a shorter hospital stay, and lower risk of infection.
