Obstetrics / Nursing
The Obstetrics (OB) Supervisor and staff at Smith County Memorial Hospital are qualified in labor monitoring, vaginal or cesarean section deliveries. All OB staff are NALS (Neonatal Advanced Life Support) Certified, along with the physicians. SCMH staff and SCFP Dr's Overmiller and Conant offer Prenatal care and education, c-section and vaginal deliveries, postpartum care and education. We do not deliver "V-Backs" at our facility.
The OB department offers prenatal information and education packets for expectant mothers. We also offer birthing room and hospital tours for expectant mothers and families. This can be scheduled through Michele Drake RN-OB Supervisor by calling (785) 282-6845.
We now do our own OAE Hearing Screens of all newborns, which is mandatory by Kansas State Health and Environment. Our OB patients no longer have to travel out of town to have this done. We also offer this service to newborns at other facilities that do not have OAE Equipment and Services.
