The Infection Control department at Smith County Memorial Hospital protects patients, employees, visitors and others in the hospital. We are also responsible for providing cost effective infection prevention and control, encouraging all staff to follow universal precautions and being aware that nearly all body fluids contain blood which is a carrier of diseases.

The main goal of the Infection Control department is to have no hospital acquired infections and to educate the staff, patients and public about infections and prevention for infection.
